Here’s how and when you can pre-order your new smartphone in the UK

It’s smartphone season, and Apple just unveiled the new iPhone 14, iPhone 14 plus, iPhone 14 pro and iPhone 14 pro max at its lineup at the company’s Far Out Apple event.

While the phones will officially launch on September 16, for the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 pro and iPhone 14 pro max, and on October 7 for the iPhone 14 plus, pre-orders will open on September 9 for all four iPhones. And this year, Apple makes preparing for the iPhone pre-order process easier than ever.

The tech giant has essentially rolled out a pre-order system. Using the Apple Store app or the company’s Preparations page, you can choose the desired iPhone 14 configuration, add Apple Care +, accessories, and confirm payment information.

All of which means you’ll be able to checkout and make your purchase when iPhone 14 pre-orders open on September 9th. There are often shipping delays whenever a new iPhone is released, so it goes without saying that Apple is making the process quicker and smoother.

In terms of the phones themselves, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 plus appear to be fairly iterative updates, with major updates in design, specs and camera reserved for the iPhone 14 pro series. As always, we expect Apple to offer some juicy trade-in offers when the iPhone 14 opens for pre-order on Friday, and we hope to see some decent offers from all major UK carriers as well.

When can you pre-order the iPhone 14 in the UK?

iPhone 14, iPhone 14 plus, iPhone 14 pro and iPhone 14 pro max will all be available for pre-order in the UK starting at 1pm on Friday 9th September. You will be able to pre-order your iPhone 14 directly from Apple, but we also expect other retailers, such as Currys and Amazon, and mobile operators, including EE, Three, Vodafone and O2, to open pre-orders at the same time.

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 plus will launch on September 16 and October 7, respectively, while iPhone 14 pro and iPhone 14 pro max will also launch on September 16.

Last year, Sky was offering the best iPhone 13 pro pre-order deal among all carriers. The company had a deal on the 128GB model of the iPhone 13 pro in one of four available colors. You could get the phone for just £ 33 a month when you signed up for a 24-month contract. There was no upfront cost, but you had to add a data plan, which started at £ 6 per month.

Three also had a good pre-order deal on the iPhone 13 pro. You could get the iPhone with unlimited data and even if you had to pay £ 49 upfront, you’d only have to pay £ 35 a month for the first six months, and then £ 70 thereafter.

O2 was offering the basic iPhone 13 with 150GB of data, unlimited minutes and unlimited text messages for £ 48.98 per month as part of a 36-month contract, with an upfront charge of £ 30. It was also selling the iPhone 13 pro max with unlimited data for £ 63.50 per month, with an upfront charge of £ 30.

There were also pre-order deals from EE, Vodafone, and Virgin Media, but they weren’t that competitive. We’ve also seen pre-order deals on the iPhone 13 mini, but with rumors that Apple will drop the mini model in favor of a bigger one this year, those deals may become less relevant.

Apple didn’t have any pre-orders per se, only selling the iPhone 13 at full price, but it did have some trade-in deals. You have been able to get a discount of between £ 80 and £ 470 on a new iPhone 13 pro or iPhone 13 pro max when you swapped an iPhone 8 or newer.

Based on last year’s carrier offers and taking into account the price hike, it looks like pre-order deals on the iPhone 14 pro could start somewhere around £ 50 per month and go as high as £ 100 per month. for iPhone 14 pro max model. That’s all guesswork for now and we won’t know what the courier’s pre-order prices are until the big day itself, so stay tuned.
